Journey Youth
Group
The formation of Israel, the chosen people
of God, the Church of the Old Testament,
took time and patience. They were a stubborn
and rebellious people who needed constant
provision and guidance. God brought His
people through the waters of the sea and
out of slavery to the Egyptians. He shaped
and formed them as a nation in their journey
through the wilderness to the Promised Land.
This time was critical and formational for
the nation of Israel. We are all sojourners
in this life, but there are certainly critical
and formational times in our lives where
our journey is especially important. Our
Youth, having been brought into the Church
through the waters of baptism, are now in
a critical time. They, like the Israelites,
like all of us, can sometimes be stubborn
and rebellious, yet they too are on a journey
to the Promised Land, a place where fellowship
with God will be intimate and complete.
In Journey Youth Group we seek to fellowship
together as we journey through this formational
time in life. We hope to grow in our relationships
with each other and with God in our collective
and personal journeys at this stage in life.
We fellowship with each other through many
activities and explore topics during the
week that relate to the influences of the
world and aspects of life that particularly
affect the youth in their stage of the journey.
On Sundays we focus on God’s revelation
through His most powerful Word. It is Him
alone who can carry us on and in whom we
find our refuge and strength. We hope that
more will come with us on this journey as
we go and look forward to meeting those
people. Please come alongside and join our
Journey Youth Group.
Regular Events:
Wednesdays 6:00-7:30 PM:
Every Wednesday following a fellowship meal
we meet in the Journey Youth House at 44
East Par Street. We are currently going
through a series on the songs we listen
to the most and what they teach. All are
welcome, come out and join us!
Sundays - 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM:
Every Sunday we have Sunday School from
9:30 AM - 10:30 AM in the Journey Loft.
We are currently journeying through the
book of James.
Special events:
We also meet for fun during the weekends
for special events. We have many exciting
events planned for 2009 such as camping,
white water rafting, ice skating, movies,

Children's Music
Ministry
Our philosophy is that we would engage children
and teach them about worship. We want our
children to learn that "little hearts
and minds" can worship in a big way!
It is our desire that the children develop
personal relationships with God that gow
deeper through music and worship. We want
our children to see that music is a gift
that God gives us, which we can use to learn,
grow, have fun, and most importantly, give
praise to God.
We look forward to teaching our children
about worshipping God through music and
are excited to share this opportunity with
our Church family and with our whole community.

Music
Psalm 150 says, “Let everything that
has breath praise the LORD.” This
is the very heart of worship at College
Park Presbyterian Church. We are a traditional
based worship experience utilizing hymns,
choral, organ, and handbell music within
the confines of our beautiful sanctuary.
Grounded in the hymns of Charles Wesley,
Martin Luther, and J. S. Bach, we use all
forms of music including those by both classical
and christian contemporary artists. The
chancel choir is the central worship team
comprised of voluntary singers from within
the congregation committed to musical and
spiritual growth. Each year the chancel
choir performs A Hometown Christmas
based on the Lessons and Carols
from Kings College in England and The
Bach Easter Cantata on Good Friday.
Music opportunities abound as we have a
Bell Choir and small ensembles such as the
Men’s and Women’s choirs that
perform often. We are committed to training
our children as all of our young ones have
an opportunity to sing in the children’s
choir or play bells in the children’s
bell choir. You don’t need to have
the best voice, play an instrument, or be
a professional musician to be a part of
our Music family. We are everyday people
making music for the King of Kings and Lord
of Lords.
Choir
Come and join us as we praise the Lord as
a part of our choir.
Bells
Praising the Lord through music is something
all of us can do through the bell choir.
You don’t need to be able to read
music just having a willing spirit is all
that is required. Don't miss out on this
opportunity to glorify God through this
wonderful ministry. |

Men's Ministry
Racing Toward Armageddon: The Three
Great Religions and the Plot to End the
World
In Racing Toward Armageddon, Michael Baigent,
the New York Times bestselling author of
The Jesus Papers and Holy Blood, Holy Grail,
exposes the conspiracy of religious extremists
in the Holy Land and their efforts to bring
about the end of the world in our lifetime.
Baigent expose the many diverse, public,
and clandestine figures who are driving
this perilous messianic message forward,
and poses a pressing question: can we really
afford to remain oblivious much longer?
Come join us every Thursday
morning at 7:30am.

Woman's Groups
Presbyterian Women at College
Park Presbyterian Church are organized into
two circles:
The Faith Circle meets
on the first Wednesday of each month in
the morning.
The Grace Circle meets
in the evenings of the third Tuesday of
each month.
Both use the Horizon's Bible Study as the
educational program. In addition, both circles
participate in national, local, and congregational
missions that enhance the lives of all people
from the perspectives of women of faith.
Circles are
an extension of the church and all women
are invited to participate and take part
in the variety of activities meant to challenge
and stretch and reach into the lives of
others who have needs. Circles provide an
opportunity for women in a congregation
to nurture new and old friendships and to
strengthen the church family. In addition,
the close relationships formed in circles
give rise to leadership opportunities and
the richness that comes when groups of women
grow together in the faith; learn to support
each other as well as communities outside
of the church; and discover the effectiveness
of group work in the name of Jesus Christ.
Although the Presbyterian
Women of College Park can often be found
in hospitality activities, their work is
far broader and inclusive than the images
sometimes portrayed. Women of College Park
can be found in every aspect of church life. |

Small Group Bible
Study
On the 4th Friday of each month, at 7:00
p.m., we are studying the book of Hebrews.
"Long ago God spoke to our ancestors
in many and various ways by the prophets,
but in these last days he has spoken to
us by a Son" begins the book of Hebrews.
Please join us as we seek to understand
and grow through this word from God. It
is a book of deep theology that helps bind
both Old and New Testaments. It is a book
of pastoral care that desires the Church
to grow in maturity and wisdom. The book
of Hebrews weaves a beautiful tapestry of
theology and exhortation which we as the
Church of today need just as much as the
Church of the past. This study will begin
in January and will be taught by Samuel
Weems. If you are interested in joining
please contact Samuel Weems or Mary Ealy
for more information.

The Big Give
What started out as a small idea has really
turned into a Big Give. Pastor Jeff gave
$100 each to 3 congregation members with
the challenge to affect the community for
Christ. What resulted was more than anyone
could have expected. Check out the video
below to see what happened! Amazingly "The
Big Give" is still giving long after
the Church "contest" was over.
Contact us here at College Park Presbyterian
Church to find out how you can be involved
in The Big Give.
